Knew nothing about these, I saw it randomly at an antique fair and bought it for £25 because I liked the look of it. Plus my pillar drill had just died so it might even be useful!
There's very little about them on the interwebs, but from what I can gather, Mancuna were a company in Denton, Manchester, who made these, lathes ("The Capitol"), and various machine tools such as vices. Then moved into Dust extraction and key cutting machines. They don't seem to have existed since the 60s.
I'm guessing that the drill is from the 1920s or thereabouts, but I can't be sure and would be interested to know for certain.
Here's a few pics of it as bought:
All seems to work (after a bit of soaking with oil to loosen some of the parts). There's a bit of damage to the casting unfortunately, but nothing that should matter:
Also the usual marks where someone's drilled into the base, to be expected after nearly a century of use! It came with a load of drill bits which have clearly been (rather well) resharpened, so presumably owned by a competent machinist.
Plan is to take it apart, clean it up and put it to use.
